How's the song go?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
..In days of Old Ang Sein...?
That's the all I remember.
My favorite is the ending to

It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

The song is sung by a room full of loved
ones and well wishers to remind George
Bailey that he has friends and life is worth
living. My wife did cry after seeing the film
at Xmas.
lyrics to :Auld Lang Syne
It is an old Scottish song
written in the 1700's

Guy Lombardo began the tradition of using Auld Lang Syne to ring in new years. The Scottish folk song has become standard fare for year-end festivities across the country and around the world.
Here is the song in Deutch:

lyrics here:

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
And surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS

And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS

Our baby boy is now 5 months old. He had his first Xmas.

He did tear open some presents. He likes to play on his

new toys. Just today we see a tooth showing.

Joe sits up pretty good and he can stand with support.

He peed on his pediatrician last week.

He peed on his mom on his birthday. He laughed.

Joe laughs a lot. He is just starting to eat.

This boy is the best Xmas present ever.

Saturday was baby Joe's 5 month b-day.
My wife is working overtime as a
911 call taker. She is busy with
recent shootings, hostage situations,
and domestic violence. I am trying
to get her to write a blog.

Before my wife went to work, we took a drive
in the country. We answered an ad for a free
hot tub in "Come and get it".

We were late by an hour due to bad directions,
and tending to Joe.
The hot tub was given to someone else.
This  was an ugly drive to a home
built like many others , far far from the city.
trailers, junk car dealers, churches.
We did see a Army recruiting center next
to a high school!
More on that at a later post.

We have responded now to 3 ads for
free hot tubs. The first was a response
to a Freecycle. org ad. We emptied my
pickup truck loaded our dollies and
drove to a trailer park.
A beautiful new condition hot tub was
shown to us by a young lady. She showed
us the hot tub that was sawed perfectly
down the middle and re- attached with
plywood strips and sheet metal srews.
The edges to the hot tub were also sawed off.
Her not to brilliant husband had cut the
hot tub up to move it from "Grandmas" to the
trailer park. We shook are heads in
disbelief and drove away.
We than responded to a Craigslist ad.
This time to purchase a "new condition"
hot tub also far far in the country. This hot
tub was "chewed up by the dogs" The lights
no longer worked and controls were missing
and damaged. Insulation was chewed off the
underside.

So our wild goose chasing continues for a
"free" or cheap hot tub.
Pictures of Joe at 5 months coming soon...

What can I do to lighten my

Carbon Footprint?

Eliminate at least one car? Not possible now.
Drive a scooter? bicycle? or public transport?
Something to consider.

How about drive a car that gets 95 pmg?

95MPG Honda that turns one headlight off to ...

or maybe drive a really small car?

World's Smallest Cars

Not practical for my wife and I are the size of 5 people and
an infant to boot.

How about  a hybrid that gets 300 MPG !
This is what I want.

300 MPG Or Conspiracy Theory?

Just putting away all the xmas decor.

We had a good time just staying home.

We probably saved 2000 dollars in

travel and dining, gifts etc. No telling

how much our little Champ got in gifts.

He got a computer and he is not yet 5

months old! Oh well I am happy to

buy gifts. We did get all educational toys.

I read "the night before xmas" and

we played "Santa Claus is Coming"

I am glad that xmas has returned to

it's origins as a winter festival.

Read this about how it all began.

The Bizarre Origins of Christmas ...

This essay about the winter holidays has a lot of material explaining the origins of seasonal celebrations in an even wider selection of cultures. posted by howard

Christmas eve our little Champ is asleep.

We'll never forget what happened today

while shopping at The Central Market,

in Fort Worth.

Our little not yet 5 month old , stared at

a women in tight jeans. He turned his

head around, smiling, and  nearly fell out of

his baby carriage, looking at this woman.

She laughed , saying she had never been

oggled before by an infant. This woman

would have won a tight fitting jeans contest.

My son is too young for me to explain, he has

to admire a womans beauty discreetly and

without being observed. I wonder where

does he get this behavior from?

Today was Christmas eve so we went about

getting my wife's favorite dinner and treats for

the holiday. Started the day with breakfast at

Paris Coffee Shop, the best place to eat

breakfast.   Then we had fun picking out the

"Hot Damn, Tamales!" all vegan of course.

We went to 2 stores to get the best

Pan Dulce- Mexican Sweet Bread.

Tonight we are keeping baby Joe up to

have a pre-Xmas party just our little family.

We'll have pics soon.

So have yourself a merry little Xmas Day!

How many glasses of water do you drink?

Why so much water ?

Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost overnight? Who knows ? Just look down on any sidewalk and see  the gum that was spit out on the ground. It becomes a black blob that is nearly impossible to remove. Why do people spit out the gum after the flavor is gone? Because they have been told all their lives that it would take 50 years to digest. Always question the myths.

We use 10% of our brains yes because the other 90% is  bullshit programmed by the corporate media and parents, churches and schools.

More myths debunked

Medical mythbusters debunk a select few

McClatchy Newspapers

Just because your doctor tells you to drink eight glasses of water daily doesn't mean you should, according to researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Doctors often fall for the same health myths their patients do, Dr. Rachel Vreeman and Dr. Aaron Carroll report in the Christmas-New Year's issue of BMJ, the British medical journal. Among seven myths they cite is the eight-glasses-of-water one.

"There is no medical evidence to suggest that you need that much water," Vreeman concluded after their intensive review of medical research on the subject.

She and Carroll trace the misperception to a 1945 recommendation by the Nutrition Council that Americans consume the equivalent of eight glasses of fluids daily.

Lost over the years, they concluded, was the council's note that the 64 ounces called for included the water in coffee, soda, fruits and vegetables.

Based on informal polls of their colleagues at the Indianapolis-based medical school, other widespread but unjustified convictions included:

People use only 10 percent of their brains. The tale is particularly widespread and even has been attributed to Albert Einstein, but it is absolutely wrong. Imaging studies of the brain in action show that all brain cells are in constant use. Also compelling is the finding that damage to almost any area of the brain has powerful effects on thinking, bodily functioning and behavior.

Hair and fingernails keep growing after death. According to forensic anthropologist William Maples, whom the researchers cite: "It's a powerful, disturbing image, but it is pure moonshine." What does happen, Maples found, is that dehydration after death sometimes causes skin around the hair or nails to shrink.

In each case, Carroll said, "we're not saying that it's a lie, but that at best nobody knows. At worst, it's not true."

Certainly, some doctors know that all seven are false, Vreeman noted. "Our purpose was simply to remind physicians that to stay current with medical knowledge means not just adding new information, but looking into your head and re-examining what you already believe."

The two researchers, who work in children's health services research at the university, hope to expand their work into a book that examines 100 common health myths.

Here are two they'll bust:

Yes, chewing gum is indigestible. But like everything else, it doesn't get stuck in the digestive tract.

If kids are hyperactive, it's not the sugar that's doing it.

This report includes material from the Los Angeles Times.

Some common health myths

People should drink at least eight glasses of water a day

We use only 10 percent of our brains

Hair and fingernails continue to grow after death

Shaving hair causes it to grow back faster, darker or coarser

Reading in dim light ruins your eyesight

Eating turkey makes people especially drowsy

Mobile phones create considerable electromagnetic interference in hospitals

Tis the shopping season shoppers.
Never do we shop the stores without
a clue of exactly what we are going to buy.
This is our infant sons first Xmas, so
we have bought gifts for the little tyke.

Well not a tyke yet but we have gifts for a
much older baby. We have bought Joe his
first computer. Yes a computer for infants!
Most of the baby things are all "Made in China"

I have seen every toy and every product in
general is now made by sweatshops and
non union made overseas suppliers.
American flags are "made in China"
I looked at a Barbie doll stamped on the
back "made in Indonesia"

Well I have found a toy supplier that has toys
still Made in U.S.A.  Little Tikes.com
Here is a list I have found.
Lead free toys not made by child labor.

Toys Made In America -- Extensive list of American toy companies ...

Here's a list from The Daily Green:

10 Lead-Free Toys Made in USA - thedailygreen.com -

Buy USA-made toys.

Yup, they're still out there...purveyors of quality toys that often harken back to a simpler, less branded childhood. Louisville Slugger baseball bats. Teddy bears from Vermont. Wooden easels from Minnesota. Be prepared to pay more for these toys. (Maybe there's a reason those other toys are so cheap.) And you'll have to seek them out online and at specialty toy stores in your local community. But on the other hand, your kid will be able to put them in their mouth over time without suffering an irreversible IQ drop.

Even choosing US-made toys, there's no panacea. Parents will still have to monitor their kids' toys, and any toy can be a danger. But at least with these toys, the chance that they've been dipped in poison paint by a faceless manufacturing subcontractor thousands of miles away is nil.
