More and more , I see these gas guzzling smoking, noisy machines, as many as a crew of five Mexicans, mowing and blowing and trimming, on small 1/3 acre lots. This is an outrageous intrusion. The noise level is deafening. What did people do 40 years ago? Mow themselves? Cancel your gym membership, get some excersize. Trim your trees, plant your garden yourself. Albertsons says the scanners give shoppers more choices; the manufacturer says they help cut costs. Shoppers, look for fewer sales clerks at your Albertson's grocery store. The newest and latest cost cutting for the grocery business is "scan your own" groceries. I tried it , I think I could get used to it. I am often unsure which item is the sale item. Stores no longer ticket each item showing the price. I often have to discover, I have selected the wrong item, instead of the sale item. Another thing this 10 for $10 is good and often is a great buy. Except when you buy , say 10 catons of tomatoes. They will go bad before they get eaten. I bought 20 bags of top soil and compost, thinking, I had to buy lots of 10. When you scan your own groceries, you will see you pay $1 for each item. More tricks and deception. I remember people playing accordians and ukulele's, all praised and thanked by Ted. Something like today's AMERICAN IDOL, Without Simon. Many more of you will remember The Gong Show about bad musical, and comedy acts , that were so bad they were hilarious, for example "the unknown comic". One of the earliest shows to review musical recordings was Classic TV Shows - Dick Clark's American Bandstand, A really well liked record was given high ratings by at least 2 teens. When Dick Clark asked "why did you like this record", the answer was almost always, "its got a good beat, and it's easy to dance to". I don't think I would have been as easily able to have a successful business in my native Charleston, S.C. , or Savannah, Ga. , where I moved here from in 1994. I have alot of ambitious goals and plans for my small business. The pool business, is beginning to boom now. It gets hotter than hell here. Everyone has a swimming pool ,or wants one here. Lost in Translation, See it! ***~3 star rating by Mo "The more you know who you are and what you want, the less you let things upset you".- Bob Harris (Bill Murray, LIT) It is race week here in Old Cowtown. Big deal. Front pages, all the news shows thousands flocking to the Texas Motor Speedway, blocking interstate travel.. The latest, closest finish ever 0.028 SECONDS . I don't go to sporting events, and I dread crowds and hate noise. Some people like crowds, and heavy alkehol, pot and drug consumption, mixed with sweat , and noise. It sounds like a nightmare to me.I went to a NASCAR race once. The beer buzz was o.k., but the noise unbearable. The best part was seeing the wrecks. It's pretty bad to get pleasure from watching disaster. That's why people slow down to look at every roadside wreck. The desire to see real life drama and blood. I stayed home and rode my bike, got plants and topsoil to plant this week. I saw on HBO, Good Girl, The (2002) A very good movie, Jennifer Aniston, is just too good looking, to be believable as a plain clerk at a retail store, married to a worthless pot-head painter. Very realistic film to me, these characters I have known in my life. The other film I saw was Lost in Translation (2003) Perfect movie for a rainy afternoon, Bill Murray is the best.Tokyo,fascinating. Scarlett Johansson, beautiful, I love those pink panties, (thongs should be flushed) . Not, a typical Hollywood love story . Funny, I laughed when "Bob" got stuck on the "treadmill".
