Bluffton Pool

  Cleaning my first pool

   in Bluffton, S.C. 1987,

   I never thought many

   years later , I would

   clean pools in Fort

Worth, Texas. Ro and I cleaned a very dirty

pool, yesterday, together our first of the

season. We will have many more to

clean, I am fortunate to have Ro work with

me , without complaint, She will be on the

phone for hours, to see why we can't access

our website, and hopefully get our email

configured. I got into the pool business, so I

could be outdoors, and experience nature

and beauty.I can't imagine waking up to an

alarm clock. rushing out the door. Dallas-

Fort Worth was rated 12th on the list

for longest commute times. New York

was first with 38 minutes commute to

work time. Chicago was second.

I am so glad I have Ro, to sit in this

office and do paperwork and make

calls all day. Tomorrow we will be

going to the DFW airport to Charleston,

S. C. I haven't been home since Dec.'02.

Off I go to work on my pools.

I have been told , that my blog is boring and doesn't make sense .I was told it contains almost no information of interest or value. Still, I will keep on , I won't give up, not yet. I won't be shot out of the saddle by Dr. Kelloggs of Battle Creek, or anyone else. I have learned alot since the fall of 2001. I began to use the internet for the first time. I had rarely used the computer at all except as a big typewriter. I never learned to type. As time goes, I get faster. One of the first things I discovered are there are alot of naked girls and women of all ages and types, on the internet. Then I discovered internet dating, (not from the naked sites) Then I was listening to a story on "blogging" on KERA 90.1 npr. I usually listen to the radio in bits and pieces. I kept hearing this word "blog" and "blogging". I didn't really understand what it was this "blogging" . I did a search ( I have tried to duplicate it ). Somehow, I discovered Motime, I liked the name. I learned after more searches that Motime is the best.. I service swimming pools, so I have time, mo time on my hands. We will be getting busy and time will be short. I thought about blogging today and I came up with: (I used to watch Letterman in the 80's when he was funny and Leno was often a guest on the "Late Night with David Letterman")

The Top Ten Reasons To Blog:

10. You don't have to use a phone to

    convey a message.

9. You don't have to write letters, cards,

or emails, that you'll never know

   if they got it.

8. You see a funny joke you can post it

    here.

7. You can express anger publicly, often

   anonymously.

   (my favorite)

6. political and religious views can be

   discussed openly.

5. you can share that song or poem that

just won't get out of your head.

4. All the latest family photos can be

   posted here.

3. You don't have to send multiple emails

   to make announcements.

2. You can document the progress of

   your altzheimers, paranoid

   schitzophrenia, etc.

1. You can feel like your words are

   important, and you are doing

   something constructive.

One of the names is mokellogs.com . Ro has written , emailed and explained on the telephone that the domain name is kellogs, with one 'g' , and I don't beleive there ever was a Mo Kelloggs, I will find out! My sister "Fat baby", called yesterday, a nice surprise to hear from Cindy, my fat little sister. Now with everyone owning mobile phones, long distance is free, on most plans after 9 pm. Everybody's talkin' . I used to like that song by H.Neilson. I hate it now, since I probably here it 10 times a day on tv. My youngest sister is not really fat , and she is no longer a baby. She doesn't mind being called that .I started calling her that when I was about 4 or 5 when she was a fat little baby. Well "Fats" wants to know what all this blogging is about, she can't get on. I have sent , probably 6 emails with my blog address. Ro and I will be there in Charleston, S.C. Feb. 27th. I will personally log on, and show them . I am Mo Kellogs.Until I can get people to email me , blog me, and now IM me . The preferred method of communication is the mobile phone. I don't think it is much better than a tin can and a string. I have to try to adapt to a life on the cell-phone after 9 pm.

So I found these email and cell-phone etiquette rules: Manners For A High-Tech Society

Do:

  • Use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling in e-mails and other forms of electronic correspondence.
  • Don't treat your devices as if they're more important than people.
  • Be aware of online subcultures (IRC chatrooms will function differently according to topic).
  • Talk quietly when on your cell phone in public
  • If you must take a call during a meeting and it will last more than 30 seconds, excuse yourself from the table.
  • Attach a note in your e-mail signature file saying whether the contents are bloggable.
  • Put contact information, including a phone number if it's a business correspondence, in your e-mail's signature file.

Don't:

  • Don't leave your cell phone turned on in meetings, movies, museums, job interviews, worship services, funerals, etc. (exceptions are allowed, but always put your phone on vibrate, warn hosts or companions and, if in a movie theatre, try to sit in an aisle seat).
  • Don't read and respond to e-mail on any device during a meeting or a meal.
  • Don't send e-mail that does not use conventional grammar, such as upper and lower-case letters in the appropriate places.
  • Don't send wedding invitations via e-mail. On the corporate side, never fire people via e-mail.
  • Don't watch risque movies on your portable DVD player while in public.
  • Don't send any sort of electronic missive that you would like to keep secret.
  • Don't open attachments without being sure you want them.

I have been meaning to see the film "Sunset Boulevard" for about 20

years now. I got to see it this rainy monday afternoon. A classic,

I enjoyed. They sure had a crummy pool for a luxurious Hollywood

home. This photo was taken from a DVD on the tv screen. The shot

was filmed in 40 degree water, so as not to get any distortion. It was

photographed shooting down into the swimming pool, from a mirror,

under the water. I would like to know more details. Is that Mr.

Time to get out and run? I choose to ride a bike, I am going

to dust off my mountain bike today. I'll work back up to the

road bike later. If we don't get rain today will be a good day

to ride. We have an anual Cowtown Marathon coming Feb

28th. More than 12,000 runners are expected for this .

Here are some tips for runners:

Rest: Take a day or two off if that's in your schedule, but

never on a Sunday if your long runs are on Saturdays. You

will be sore and feel bad on Monday. Train slowly and

consistently. It takes about six months to get ready to run a

marathon.

Lay it on: Dress in layers. More people overdress than

underdress for races; you always work up a sweat. Outer

layer: a large trash bag if the weather's really cold and wet.

Don't use antiperspirant just before a long race. You're

supposed to sweat.

Neither rain nor . . . Runners ignore bad weather unless

it's dangerous, as in lightning or slippery, ice-covered

streets.

Extra, extra! Drink extra water, eat extra carbs and get

extra sleep the week before a big race. Don't eat or drink

anything that you haven't already tried while training.

Be satisfied: Beginners who have trained hard should

taper off and slow down a little the last three weeks or so

before a running event. Transition to three or four miles,

three or four times the week before a marathon, a little less if

you're running a shorter race. Never try to improve your time

or distance the last week before a big race.

Stretch: It's the No. 1 thing that can prevent injuries, but

never stretch when your muscles are cold. Warm up first

with a little slow jogging or striding. Stretch slowly and

smoothly, holding each stretch about 30 seconds. Always

stretch again as soon as you finish a run or walk.

Feet first: Get your shoes fitted by someone who knows

how to take into account your foot shape and your individual

stride. If you've never been fitted properly, you're likely

wearing shoes at least one size too small. Never wear new

shoes or even new socks on race day. Break them in.

Running melts away pounds: If you are training hard,

you can eat almost anything you want -- or at least all the

lean meat, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat milk you

want, and still lose weight.

You're never too old to start walking or running for

exercise, and races, like the Cowtown Marathon, add interest

and excitement to that exercise. There are dozens of fun

runs and races in the Fort Worth area, including the

upcoming Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, April 10, and

the Mayfest Garden Run, May 1.

Start slow: If you're a beginner, concentrate on finishing

the race you choose, not winning it. You can only get better.

Today in History :on Feb. 22, 1879 Frank Winfield Woolworth

opened his first "Five Cent Store"in Utica, New York.

The first "W" store,Woolworth's, One of the first 5 and 10 cent stores,

I felt old when I recently told a 20 something woman , I worked at Woolworth's .

she said "what is Woolworth's" well back then, that was like saying what is Wal-mart?, today,

I worked at Woolworth's washing dishes, in the "Harvest House Coffee Shop" It was 19 hundred and 73 ,

I was a junior in high school, I worked at Woolworth's at Northwoods mall in Charleston, S.C. until

I graduated from Trident Technical College in 1976. I learned some valuable lessons about work back then.

My first day on the job, I cleaned the kitchen , mopped the floor, went home. I got a call at

about 10 pm, after I was already home and getting ready for bed, (it was a school night.) I was

told to return to the Woolworth's store, it was about a 20 minute drive from Summerville,I

returned to get a lecture on cleanliness, and how my job of cleaning the floor , and the rest

of the kitchen, was "unacceptable" , The Assistant manager showed me in detail what was

expected, and what I needed to do. I was not to leave that store, until I did the job right.

I stayed and cleaned and scrubbed that floor for another 2 hours. From then on I made

certain the dishes, the kitchen, and the "floors were clean enough to eat off of." I learned

a good lesson, I used the Woolworth's store for a job reference for many years, until I

became self-employed. The personel manager always said "I was the best employee, they

had ever had work there". I read every book they had on the book racks, slept, ate,did my

homework, flirted with the girls, and generally goofed off. Still I was always liked and praised,

because, I always completed my work efficiently, cleaned impeccably, and never missed a

day of work. - Mo Kellogs

Whoa, I wouldn't go that far. I can't pretend to speak for a whole city. This is supposed to be a place that doesn't support chains, ( most are outlawed ) and we now have a Starbucks on virtually every corner in the city, sometimes 2 or 3 within site of each other. The same for Walgreen's. A big change from 12 or 13 years ago.

A good cup of coffee is hard to find. I haven’t thought a whole lot

about the explosion of Starbuck stores in recent years. My sister

Robin hates Starbucks, she says everyone in San Francisco hates

anything from Seattle. I bought coffee at a local Fiesta grocery ,

(they don’t sell fresh roasted beans) Fiesta is a huge store

primarily stocked for the needs of the average Mexican,

or Tex-mex family. We now have mostly ,other than Caucasian

"minorities" , in Fort Worth blacks and hispanics, are the majority

(hispanic population doubles, pushing "minorities" into the majority)

read :View as HTML more: Dallas-Fort Worth Travel, City Tourist Guide, USA

I am a minority here, my ancestors, were Leprechauns. So I am

drinking this lousy cup of coffee. "The Noble Bean,"( hot, fresh,

out of the roaster, beans)went out of business.

We have 21 Starbuck locations here in Old

Cowtown. The best coffee cannot be had at the Starbucks . I think

this place ,Starbucks is where you go to have a coffee flavored

milkshake. I have noticed some highly unusual characters at the

Starbucks.. A freckled ,bespeckeled guy 35, with dreadlocks,

sandals with socks, busy reading and writing , in a notebook ,

usually a common sight. You won’t see the "soccer mom" or the

George Walker Bush favorites, "the Nascar dads" ,here at the

Sbucks. I bet at any time of the evening you will find drinking a

"latte" or such, some very interesting dudes at Starbucks. I believe

this is why mariemarionette.motime.com, and others shop there. I might

try to get a real "American cup of black coffee" there , I’ll be the

Leprechaun getting a cup to go.

I am really looking forward to getting away for the

weekend of Feb. 28th. I miss the easy life.I lived

on Oyster Street in Bluffton, S.C. I used to fish

off the dock and catch catfish , I'd feed the 13

cats we had acquired, right on the dock. I love fish

and seafood, we had seafood sometimes everyday. "I

want to go back to the islands, where the

shrimpboats are tied to the pilin's, give me oysters

and beer, for dinner everyday of the year, and I'll

be fine"...-Jimmy Buffett Lyrics » (Tin Cup Chalice Lyrics)

. I hope I get to have some fresh steamed oysters,

when I go home next weekend, not these Texas oysters,

big,but no flavor. If you ever get to eat a steamed

May river oyster, there is no comparison. A raw

oyster, against a steamed one, is like eating a raw

mushroom, compared to a mushroom sauteed in butter

and garlic. The smell of the ocean, the river is the

cradle of life, the tall pines, the live oaks,power-

full, beautiful. "I remember the oak trees,we used

to climb"...-Hickory Wind,-The Gram Parsons Homepage.

It will be spring-time in the South Carolina

lowcountry next weekend. (Oyster St.- Yahoo! Maps )

Phone calls, I hate 'em. I can't understand what

people are saying half the time ,with a regular Texas

twang. Now with out-sourcing of American jobs to India,

read: Outsource the work of our economic advisers

and other countries. Many times, especially recently, I

call a utilitiy company, and get usually a very heavily

accented female, that may know the English language

better than I do, but I can't understand her. Often

phone numbers are not available on websites. It is

frustrating to email people, then have to wait days for

a reply, or no reply at all. I was hoping , this blogging

would be a good way to communicate, with family and

friends. If I had a blog I could check to see what my

sisters are doing these days, it would be a thousand

times better, than calling. Mobile phones, Not for me!

sure there is usually no long distance charge, but who

can hear? and I don't want to have a conversation,

while driving. That's all I see , shoppers , yakking, on

phones, while ignoring red lights, and other traffic. I can

imagine, what's being said. " What's up? , ... Oh not

much.... What are you doing? Oh not much, doing my

nails, you?" Now , with another phone co. merger

making, the largest cell-phone company,

read : Cingular may have to shed assets to get OK

prices are going to go down , at least temporarily.

Everybody will be talking . Shoppers, having a phone

pressed to their ear, while driving around shopping

and talking. Oh , can you hold? I have another call

coming in. ( No idea who it is really, but , don't want

to miss a single call) I see no use for the cell- phone

I have been using for 5 years now, other than

emergencies,and towing . It's easier to call a wrecker

now after a pile-up.

“Sure Mr. Wayne, there’s a public restroom right back there.”

“Do you have a private toilet pilgram?”

“No sir, that’s the only one.”

So the Duke waits a little longer, and finally, not able to hold it anymore, heads to the public restroom. A few minutes later he returns, with a big wet spot on his legs .

“Mister Wayne, what happened?”

“Never fails. every time I go somewhere to take a leak, the guy next to me will recognize me, get excited and then,” The Duke gestured to his pants. “Then he turns to say ‘Hey, you're John Wayne !’”…

I drink water, I carry it with me in my truck . I don't drink 8, 8 oz. glasses of water a day. I tried that for awhile, I seemed to be always searching for a lavoritory. public restroom, bathroom, bano, potty room. Everyone has to go pee , take a leak, piss, urinate, shake the dew off the lilly. I thought of what Likewise
had written in her blog on Feb. 12, about, how she had to hover above the toilet bowl, I learned that women , most often don't sit on the toilet seat of public restrooms .I thought of that, as I was holding my breath, so I could endure the noxious fumes in the public toilet, at a neighborhood convenience store/gas station.I was thinking how it would be nice, if you could just flush the whole room. The cost of water ,sewage etc...

Book Ban in Bed - use the bed for sex and sleep only
If you're tossing and turning when you should be snoozing, don't reach for a book to help you fall asleep.

Reading in bed won't help you battle insomnia; in fact, late-night page-turning may be contributing to or even intensifying the problem....read more

How can I help prevent insomnia?

    Practice good sleep hygiene:

    • Establish a regular bedtime and wake-up time and stick to them even on weekends.
    • Avoid taking naps.
    • Exercise regularly during the day. Avoid exercising in the evening.
    • Keep light levels very low after sunset and keep the bedroom very dark.
    • Keep the bedroom at a cool temperature.
    • Use the bed only for sleep and sex, not for reading or watching television.
    • Go to bed when you are drowsy and get up when you are wide awake.
    • Avoid caffeine, other stimulants, cigarettes, and alcohol. (If you smoke, try to quit smoking entirely. Cutting back on smoking without quitting may lead to nicotine withdrawal in the middle of the night that awakens you.)
    • Learn to use relaxation exercises.
    • Meditate for 20 minutes before you go to bed.
    • Read something light or entertaining just before you go to bed, to get your mind off the day's troubles.
    • Consider having white noise in the background, such as a fan blowing.
    • Try not to focus on falling asleep. For example, don't keep checking the clock and worry about why you are not asleep yet. If you are awake for more than 20 minutes, leave the bed and do not go back to bed until you are ready to sleep.
    • Try to reduce stress in your life by changing the things that cause stress.
    • Keep a "to do" journal.(or keep a Motime blog) Before you go to bed, write down all the things you are worrying about. Then write down what you can do tomorrow. Mark the other things as things to do later in the week. This will help clear your mind of worry

Coffee, Who ever thought I would be buying de-caf, I like it! I'm not going to make a pot of it in the am , yet, I still think I need that caffeine jolt. I have been buying what is being sold as "fresh" coffee beans at the grocery store, not bad. My tip of the day after noon , drink de-caffeinated coffee, it tastes good and I think in some way I get a boost. I Found these helpful tips for bloggers suffering from insomnia :

Of course there's the standard technique
that everyone knows (although it never
    worked for us)

    And some techniques you probably
    haven't seen before

That's too much information.. I hear that alot, usually , when someone wants to explain the details of an operation, or the ins and outs of a recent adventure in love. We are working on editing our website, and it makes me think of the entirely boring amount of literature out there. You hear all the bullshit on the boob tube, you read alot of useless information here, on motime . I listen to Kera 90.1 npr, I can't bear the noise that makes up broadcast radio these days, the screaming car commercials , etc. I have ordered a book . I learned about this on NPR:
The Book on Writing: The Ultimate Guide to Writing Well by Paula Larocque
"what is read with effort, is read without pleasure", - Paula Larocque Alot of authors, I have listened to have just about put me asleep, this woman , is funny entertaining, and very bright. Bloggers would benefit from this book . One of my favorite bloggers calgal has some recommendations also,(look in her blog wrangler link) I tend to ignore alot of un-needed words, keep it simple stupid. In the days of old authors were paid for the amount of words their books contained. Writing that requires alot of thought, or a thumb through the dictionary, is to me a waiste of time. If I want to read Poe, I'll read Edgar Allen Poe. I intend to read more in 2004, and maybe more good writing. MK

For years we've been admonished to chug eight glasses of water a day--for our skin, for our weight, for general good health. But--surprise!--experts say that advice might not hold water.

    MICHAEL FINNEGAN
    (Traditional Nursery Rhyme)

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan
He had whiskers on his chin again
Along came the wind and blew them in again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan
He kicked up an awful dinnegann
Because they said he must not sing again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

There was an old man called Michael Finnegan
Ran a race and thought he'd win again
Got so puffed that he had to go in again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan
He drank through all his good gin again
And so he wasted all his tin again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan
He went fishing with a pin again
Caught a fish and dropped it in again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

There was an old man called Michael Finnegan
Climbed a tree and barked his shin again
Took off several yards of skin again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

There was an old man named Michael Finnegan
He grew fat and then grew thin again
Then he died and had to begin again
    Poor old Michael Finnegan....Begin again.

Oh well just like Old Michael Finnegan ,  must start all over and just begin again- Mo Kellogs

I am going to take time and eat everything that Ro serves me , she is a fine looking slim woman, who doesn't wolf her meals down like Mo.
Rather than getting extra large food portions for a few extra pennies, focus on super-sizing your time instead.

One of the reasons why the French have had a history of lower obesity rates compared to Americans may be the time they typically spend eating a meal. Not only do the French eat smaller portions, but they also spend more time enjoying their meals compared to Americans. Eating slowly may help trigger feelings of fullness before you overeat.

RealAge Benefit: Eating a diverse diet that is low in calories and high in nutrients can make your RealAge as much as 4 years younger.

A few tricks to try when eating more slowly include setting your fork down in between bites, sipping water after each bite, and chewing your food thoroughly before swallowing

Shoppers if you haven't already it is time to discard that old -timey vcr and purchase a new recordable dvd, and while your at it you must buy a 50 inch or larger HDTV. The Kellogs went shopping yesterday, and we saw amongst the under one dollar ,crap that nobody wants, a large selection of vcr tapes. read this : Recording the VCR’s Swan Song We have both a dvd , and a vcr , but we can't really see the difference, a crummy movie is just as lousy on either. Who needs to record for posterity anything on the boob tube, a literal discription after this past Superbowl. Does anyone need to look at Dr. Phil as if he was seated in the room with you? I don't think so. Adios for now my fellow shoppers. MK

Rants and Raves ! I have been reading these blogs on this here Motime. Many are called rants, I have heard that word many times, usually along with rave, as soon as I learn HTML, I will link definitions to these words, rant and rave. Mostly I think rant means , an angry or violent discussion. I have not seen anything that can really be classified as angry and certainly not violent. I enjoy reading , theoldhippychicsrants, click: here I'll list some others, but theold hippy is a really good one, not really angry just a straight forward opinion. I like that, no bullshit just the facts ma'am, I am glad I found Motime, this is the best way in the world for people, all over the world to communicate their feelings, openly. It used to be you made a phone call , you had a booth, with a door you had to close to make your call. It was very private and no-one had any clues to what you were saying, or to whom. Now, you go into a grocery store, you quite often see people having very personal conversations in public, and very easily heard by all, on their cell phones. Now we have blogs for people to very openly discuss thier rants and openly complain about a co-worker or employer. Open discussions about sex and marriage, relationships. Open discussions about teachers and class. Let it out talk about it, I love it , these are real people writing. It is therapeudic to get out the thoughts and feelings. I think it's good to share, information, news that doesn't get reported. Politics and religion has to be something that many people disagree on, but it's good we can expose the lies and deceit that is accepted as the truth. I most often prefer to get a voicemail, or answering machine, I favor email above all. I don't want to spend idle hours with chit-chat. I can do that here. I can choose which bits to read and what to ignore. I am learning to live in the modern world. Now if I can learn to live with violent and angry drivers, and if I can avoid road rage, in this me-first world of hurry and hustle and bustle of shoppers shopping, I'll make it, I still have'nt installed my punching bag yet, but soon.. adios Mo Kellogs

Listen here to Mos' theme song: 03 Jaded Lover.wma by Jerry Jeff Walker

    Jaded Lover- Chuck Pyle
Well, it won't be but a week or two,
You'll be out lovin' someone new.
It must have happened a hundred times before.
And I can see you been spreadin' yourself thin too.
It's a lonely stage we been goin' through.
Don't get up, I can find my own way to the door.

    Chorus:
Well, I can see you are an angel,
    whose wings just won't unfold.
Tune up your harp; polish your old halo.
Well the only kind of man that you ever wanted
is one that you knew you'd never hold very long.
You're sittin' there cryin' like I'm the first one to go.

Well, you may have had thirty lovers behind you.
Baby, I can feel you, but I sure can't find you.
Seems like you would have found your own self by now.
But late at night your old lovers' tears come back,
faces in your dreams, fingers in your back,
voices of the memories, cryin' out loud.

    Chorus:
Well, I can see you are an angel,
    whose wings just won't unfold.
Tune up your harp; polish your old halo.
Well the only kind of man that you ever wanted
is one that you knew you'd never hold very long.
You're sittin' there cryin' like I'm the first one to go.

Ah, what a joyous sight to see you in your sleep.
I believe I'm leavin'; I'm in too deep,
and that seems easy enough for a man to say.
But we would never agree if we talked all night.
Things are gettin' kind of heavy. I'm travelin' light.
Goodbye you jade lover, you undercover queen for a day.

    Chorus:
Well, I can see you are an angel,
    Whose wings just won't unfold.
Tune up your harp; polish your old halo.
Well the only kind of man that you ever wanted
is one that you knew you'd never hold very long.
You're sittin' there cryin' like I'm the first one to go.
Tag: You're sittin' there cryin' like I'm the first one to go.

    (Spoken:) Think about it darlin'.
